Meghan Markle received wonderful news when a prominent royal figure's close friend endorsed her life-changing decision.
Richard Kay, the Daily Mail's Editor, who was a close friend of Prince William and Harry's late mother, Princess Diana, particularly in her final years, stated that the People's Princess must have been overjoyed with the Sussexes' regal departure.
During a talk on the Royal Confidential podcast, the royal commentator stated Diana would have encouraged her daughter-in-law and son to pursue their independence.
While expressing the People Princess' likely attitude towards Megxit, he stated, "None of us really know, but I think there is something about Meghan that Diana would have found not just intriguing but slightly liberating."
"I think she would have liked Meghan's independence and the fact that she was able to offer Harry an escape route, if you like, from royal duty," Richard told me.
However, the royal expert suggested that Diana would be concerned over the rift between her sons, Harry and William.
"I believe she would have admired Harry's decision to settle in America. She wouldn't have appreciated the schism with William," he remarked.
Richard continued, "I believe she would have been sad with how things turned out, but she would have been quite friendly to Meghan at first. That's my viewpoint."
For the uninitiated, Harry and Meghan retired from their senior royal positions in 2020. The couple currently resides in Montecito with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
