The second season of Shōgun will begin production in Vancouver in February 2026.
Hiroyuki Sanada (Lord Yoshii Toranaga) and Cosmo Jarvis (John Blackthorne) will return to their roles in FX's historical drama.
According to sources, the second season's plot would pick up 10 years after the events of the first season.
Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks will serve as executive producers for the creative team, with Michaela Clavell, Edward L. McDonnell, and Michael De Luca.
Meanwhile, the series proved to be a huge success for FX. It not only became the most-watched show in network history, but it also earned a record 18 Emmy Awards in 2024.
The second season of Shōgun, set a decade after the first, follows Lord Yoshii Toranaga (Sanada) as he fights for survival against his opponents in the Council of Regents.
"When a mysterious European ship was found marooned in a nearby village, its English pilot John Blackthorne (Jarvis) shared vital strategic secrets with Toranaga that tipped the scales of power in his favor to win a century-defining civil war," according to the log.
