The palace statement begins: "The President of the French Republic, His Excellency Emmanuel Macron, accompanied by Mrs Brigitte Macron, has accepted an invitation from His Majesty The King to pay a State Visit to the United Kingdom from Tuesday 8th July to Thursday 10th July 2025."

The huge declaration follows King Charles' strong warning about "global uncertainty" in a new address at Windsor Castle.

King Charles, 76, spoke during the Household Cavalry's new Standards Parade with his sister Princess Anne.

According to GB News, when addressing the assembled regiments in full military uniform, the king emphasized their significance "at such a time of global uncertainty".

He also stated: "It is of crucial importance to preserve the attributes of excellence and achievement for which you are famous, and which are symbolised by these Standards."
