King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived in Ottawa, Canada, on Monday afternoon, to begin their historic two-day tour.
The royal couple was greeted warmly by the Governor-General of Canada, Mary Simon, and newly-elected Prime Minister Mark Carney, who were accompanied by dignitaries such as Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak, National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations, and other indigenous leaders.
Buckingham Palace revealed beautiful moments from the first day of the visit, as the King and Queen appreciated Canadian culture. After visiting Lansdowne Park, where they enjoyed a cultural exhibition of indigenous cultures, local food, and hockey, they went to Rideau Hall.
The governor general of Canada, who also serves as the monarch's envoy, has his official home at Rideau Hall.
During the visit, Charles paid tribute to his late mother, Queen Elizabeth, and marked his historic visit with a particular gesture.
