Tom Cruise is mourning the loss of his Top Gun co-star Val Kilmer.
According to reports, Cruise has given Kilmer's family whatever assistance they require and has joined other Hollywood superstars in an effort to protect the late actor's memory.
"Tom was extremely rattled up. He respected Val so much, and he's devastated by his loss," a mole told In Touch magazine. Kilmer died from pneumonia on April 1, 2025, at the age of 65.
"He can't wrap his head around the idea that Val has gone," added the tipster of Cruise, who's "heartbroken that he won't get to see him again."
"The loss has put a mirror in Tom's face as far as his own mortality, but more than anything he's sad for Val's kids," a source told me.
"He understands how deeply this has affected them. Tom is all about action, and he's determined that the greatest way to remember Val is to establish a scholarship in his name to support future artists and ensure Val is never forgotten," the mole added.
"He doesn't want to overstep, so he's made the offer to Val's family so they can have a say in everything," the insider said of the Mission: Impossible star. "He also doesn't want to do this for any sort of glory, so he's very clear it's not something he wants to put his name on, he will want to be anonymous."
"It's also crucial to him that Val be honored within the Hollywood community, so he's planning to reach out to the Academy to make sure that Val will be among those given a tribute at next years' Oscars," the shady character said.
Tom Cruise, 62, requested a minute of silence at this year's CinemaCon to memorialize his late friend Val Kilmer.
