The Honor 400 series is slated to be released internationally on May 22. Ahead of the introduction, the Chinese consumer technology company revealed a new artificial intelligence (AI) feature for the next smartphone series. It will receive a new AI-powered image-to-video capability that can animate static images. While little is known about the new capability, sources indicate that it may make up to five-second films from a single photograph. This artificial intelligence function is supposed to be powered by Google.
Honor 400 Series Could Feature an AI Video Generator
In a tweet on X (previously known as Twitter), Honor's official worldwide account previewed a new "AI Image to Video" capability for its Honor 400 series smartphones. This AI tool will be available over the whole series. The Huawei sub-brand describes the AI tool as one that "can effortlessly transform your images into captivating videos."
The article included a video of the feature, which demonstrated the AI tool's capabilities. Honor did not divulge anything about the feature at the time. According to a Huawei Central report, the AI image-to-video function would be driven by Google's Veo 2 model, which was introduced earlier this year.
Essentially, it is a live photo feature that can animate a video, but it does not utilize the image as a guide to create innovative videos. According to the study, the technology can make up to five-second films from a single static photograph.
Furthermore, the magazine stated that the program can create films from both portrait and landscape photographs and that the process takes only a few minutes. The function is supposedly accessible through the phone's Gallery app. However, there is no possibility to include a text prompt to inform the AI how the user wants the movie to look.
For the first two months, Honor 400 smartphone owners will apparently get free access to the image-to-video converter. During this time, users are expected to generate 10 videos every day. Following that, it is expected to demand a membership to create videos. While specifics are unknown, the capability may need a Google One AI Premium membership.
