Jimmy Wayne Carwyle, the man accused of stalking Hollywood's iconic actress Jennifer Aniston, has encountered a huge barrier.
A court has ruled that he is not mentally fit to stand trial right now. After two physicians concurred that he was not in the correct frame of mind, the case was put on hold.
Judge Maria Cavalluzzi stated, "The court finds the defendant is not currently competent to stand trial."
"Criminal proceedings will remain suspended."
The 48-year-old stalker from Mississippi pleaded not guilty and remained mute in court behind a glass barrier.
However, he appeared quite different from his previous appearances, with his gray hair and beard shaved and clad in bright yellow jail clothing. Not long ago, he was seen draped in a special blanket designed to prevent suicide, demonstrating how drastically his health has deteriorated.
Carwyle claimed he was able to face trial and requested a second opinion after being declared unfit last week.
"It's not the outcome my client would have preferred," Deputy Public Defender Robert Krauss said to the judge.
