Jeremy Renner has defended himself against Disney's "insulting offer" to shoot a second season of the smash series Hawkeye.
During his appearance on the most recent edition of the High Performance podcast, the 54-year-old actor claimed that the corporation asked him to repeat his part as Hawkeye in the Marvel series, but they gave him half the salary he received in the first season.
"They asked me to do a season two, and they offered me half the money," Jeremy stated. "And I am like, wow. It will take me twice as much labor to make half as much money. So eight months of my time, effectively, and I have to do it for half the pay."
"I am like, 'Why?' Because you think I'm just half the Jeremy 'cause I was run over?'" the Mayor of Kingstown actor said, referring to the event in which a snowplow rolled over him in his driveway.
"And this isn't Marvel, mind you; it's just Disney - not even Disney; it's just the money pinchers and accountants. I advised them to go fly a kite as an insult. "So we didn't agree on that," Jeremy explained.
The actor said that he will still repeat his Marvel role, but he insisted on defending himself.
"I didn't ask for any more money, mind you," claimed the member of the Avengers. "It's just 'pay me what I made the first season."
"So it's a little disappointing that that didn't happen, but it's okay. I'm glad to let it go since my body is probably thanking me repeatedly for not doing that right now," Jeremy remarked.
Hawkeye's first season premiered in 2021.
