Jeremy Renner opens out about refusing an opportunity to feature in Hawkeye season 2.
In a recent interview with High Performance, Renner, 54, said that he was given just half the salary for the second season of the Disney+ series compared to the first.
"They wanted me to do Season 2 and offered me half the pay. "I'm like, 'Well, it's going to take me twice the amount of work for half the money, and eight months of my time, essentially, to do it for half the amount,'" he told the site.
The Avengers star also claimed that it had something to do with his nearly catastrophic snowplow mishap.
"I said, 'I'm sorry. Why? Did you believe I'm just half of Jeremy because I was run over? Maybe that's why you want to give me half of what I earned in the first season."
He said, "This is not Marvel, mind you. This is just Disney, but not really Disney. It's just the accountants and money pinchers. I told them to go fly kites. I mean, look at the insult offer. So we didn't agree on it.
Renner, on the other hand, stated that he adored the role and would continue to play him if he was paid as much as he was in the first season.
"I still want to do it, but I needed to protect myself. Simply pay me what I made throughout the first season. So it's disappointing that it didn't happen, but that's okay," he said.
