Meghan Markle has huge business goals, and there will be more beyond the lifestyle brand, Netflix programs, and podcast.
The Duchess of Sussex, who is also the mother to six-year-old Prince Archie and three-year-old Princess Lilibet, spoke candidly about her future intentions in an interview with Fast Company.
According to previous reports and sources, Meghan was unable to obtain a trademark for her company, As Ever, in the clothes category since other clothing firms with the similar name already existed and were copyrighted.
However, Meghan is unconcerned with the setback, suggesting that a fashion brand is something the public can anticipate from her.
When asked if she would be willing to establish a clothing company given the public's interest in her fashion choices, Meghan said yes.
"The category of fashion is something I will explore at a later date, because I do think that's an interesting space for me," she told the paper.
However, she stated that her business is presently centered on a single concept since her "heart is very deeply in [her] home".
"Everything comes from being rooted in the love story of your home and garden, and then you can imagine different verticals coming out of that," she said about her brand's approach.
Meghan's design brand is not a far-fetched concept; the Duchess started a fashion website in March.
The web shop allows followers to purchase stylish items recommended by Meghan, and she receives a sales fee on select things purchased using the affiliate links she posted.
The "elite" site gives commissions of up to 30%, which is significant given the luxury goods Meghan represents.
However, if Meghan intends to launch her own business, she still has a huge challenge: naming. If Meghan chose to continue this new enterprise, she will have to do it under a name other than 'As Ever'.
Given the legal processes and difficulties she faced with her lifestyle company (previously known as American Riviera Orchard), Meghan would need to learn from her mistakes.
