Christopher McQuarrie, the director of Mission Impossible - The Final Reckoning, has revealed details regarding Tom Cruise's future ambitions.
The eighth installment in Cruise's iconic franchise is currently playing in theaters worldwide.
McQuarrie, 62, claimed in a podcast that he is very interested in developing a spin-off version of his picture from 2008.
The two even had'serious chats' about it while filming Mission: Impossible 8.
Tom is determined to continue the narrative of Tropic Thunder's Les Grossman with a new project.
The 56-year-old filmmaker said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, "The conversations we've had about Les Grossman are so f****** funny."
"We're talking about it, and we're having serious discussions about how to approach it. It all boils down to who the character is."
McQuarrie admits to discussing ideas for a spin-off with the Top Gun: Maverick star while working on Mission: Impossible.
He said, "We don't even think about organization; we experiment with scenarios. Just sitting at a breakfast table and not talking about the movie we're working on for a minute is such a relief."
Tropic Thunder, a comic war picture released in 2008, stars Tom, Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr., and others.
