The royal family issued a statement only hours before King Charles reached a historic milestone in Canada.
On May 27, the Palace spokeswoman said that the king will receive a particular distinction previously held by his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
A notable photo of the late Queen was released on the royal family's official Instagram pages, showing her attending the 23rd Session of the Canadian Parliament in 1957.
The coronation team announced, "Later today, The King will open Parliament in Canada, becoming the first monarch to do so since Queen Elizabeth II in 1957."
