Nicole Kidman has just stated the one thing she emphasizes whenever she embarks on a project.
This priority was highlighted during her interview with the Kering Group on the eve of receiving the Woman in Motion Award.
Kidman spoke honestly about her enthusiasm for female empowerment in the directing area at a Kering Woman in Motion conversation with Variety's Angelique Jackson.
"I was going to make it possible," she said.
"I was at a point when we had a debate with such a discrepancy in terms of options. You'd say, 'Could a woman direct this?' And there weren't many names to consider. They'd claim it was someone's first time, and you didn't want to take the chance."
And, "I had to start by saying this is how I'm doing it. "This is what I'm doing."
"We will take the risk and we are going to mentor and support and help and then really protect," she recalled.
"Because part of it is protecting and surrounding the women with almost like a forcefield of protection and support so they can do their best work."
And before signing off, she rephrased it again, saying, "At the same time, it gives them the opportunity to feel like this isn't their only chance." A lot of people say, 'OK, you get one chance.'"
