Michael Cera and Wes Anderson have teamed together on the forthcoming film The Phoenician Scheme.
This is the first time the artistic couple has collaborated. The actor was cast in Asteroid City, but he had to withdraw out due to the birth of his kid.
The film is now slated to debut in Cannes. Michael told Variety how he joined up for the film.
"Just because Wes asked!" "Having an invitation from him was a no-brainer for me, and it always will be," the Juno star added.
"I've been dying to work with him since I saw" The Royal Tenenbaums "in theaters, so I was just so excited to have the opportunity."
In another part of the conversation, Michael disclosed how long he had known Wes, adding, "I've known Wes socially for many years. We met around 20 years ago. We recently met at a meeting, but we've been in touch for years."
"Wes has really been extremely supportive to me about some of the initiatives I've been trying to start. He's read stuff, and he's just been helpful and supportive. And, of course, I was always wanting to be on one of his sets," he explained.
The Phoenician Scheme will be released on May 30.
