Following a two-day sojourn in New York, Prince Edward went to Philadelphia, according to local media.
The Independence Historical Trust welcomed the Duke of Edinburgh, who lauded history and youth education.
Prince Edward attended a special dedication ceremony for the Bicentennial Bell in the Benjamin Rush Garden at Independence National Historical Park.
The royals also had lunch with Mayor Parker and dignitaries at Carpenter's Hall.
Earlier, the royal family posted a photo of the King's youngest brother with the comment, "The Duke of Edinburgh is currently in New York to support the International Awards work in the US."
The Duke of Edinburgh is the youngest child of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.
He devotes most of his time as a full-time working member of the Royal Family to advocating for young people and promoting the benefits of non-formal education across the world.
