Prince Harry appeared disillusioned as a family reunion took an unexpected turn, with the Duke of Sussex reaching out to his aunts full of optimism.
King Charles' estranged son was "so disappointed" that his now-wife Meghan Markle failed to impress his aunts.
Harry earlier stated in an interview that Meghan had similarities with the late Princess of Wales. However, Diana's two sisters, Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes, disagreed, according to royal writer Tom Bower.
"Harry felt Diana's relatives and acquaintances would find a resemblance between her and his fiancée. Both, he stated, had the same difficulties. "He was very disappointed," the author said in his book.
"No one agreed that his fragile mother shared anything in common with his fiancée. They believed Meghan would not fit in with the Royal Family, which made him even more uncomfortable.
However, Harry believes that his late mother, whom he lost when he was 12 years old, would have been "over the moon" to meet Meghan. In 2022, Harry issued a statement that echoed their ideas.
"So much of who Meghan is and how she is is very similar to my mother," Harry told Express UK. "She has the same compassion, sensitivity, and confidence. "She has a warmth about her."
Prince Harry and Meghan have been separated from the royal family since they left their senior royal roles in 2020.
Harry, on the other hand, has strong links to his mother's side of the family.
