Despite his effort to reconcile, Prince Harry's dramatic interview has only widened the schism between him, his brother Prince William, and his father King Charles.
During an interview with the BBC, the Duke of Sussex stated that he "would love reconciliation" with his father.
He also confessed that, while certain members of the royal family would "never forgive" him for the book Spare, he does not want to "fight anymore" in light of King Charles' health issues.
However, a source told Mirror: "The Duke's latest decision to speak publicly about his family and the situation he finds himself in will only result in him being further than ever from the reconciliation he now says he wants."
"At its very heart, for the family there is a major trust issue when even thinking about speaking to him."
"There is certainly no incentive to do so when he is so free to openly criticise and only ever present one view, being his," claimed the person.
Another insider went on to say that Prince Harry should "consider a different path from the one taken" if he genuinely wants to reconnect with the royal family.
They went on to say that, while King Charles is "a good man" and "forgiveness is central to that," no one can forget the past, especially "when they are repeated so often?"
"The whole episode is as exhausting as it is sad," the insider said.
