Neve Campbell has been an integral part of the internationally famous Scream franchise.
Aside from the sixth sequel, the 51-year-old Canadian actress has appeared in every film.
After leaving the 2023 film due to a financial dispute, Neve is returning to resume her role as the heroine, Sydney Prescott.
Writer Guy Busick has now revealed why Sydney is returning for Scream 7.
Busick went on: "I don't want to give anything away about the reason ['Scream 7'] had to be a Sidney movie because there's a really cool reason."
"In all these films, you have to wonder, 'Why now?'" "What is 'Scream' commenting on right now?"
The scriptwriter noted that there is a very good reason for bringing her back, and they were all relieved when they learned the character's importance in the new film.
In an interview with ComicBook.com, he explained, "There is a very precise reason why Sidney is in this film. I will say there is a reason, and we were satisfied when we cracked it."
"We approached Neve Campbell and said, 'This is why. This explains why Sidney is here now. Neve said, 'Oh, I get it.' "I also pitched Kevin this first."
The forthcoming horror slasher will reunite Campbell with Courtney Cox. Meanwhile, it will include Matthew Lillard, Mckenna Grace, and Mason Gooding.
