The Italian Global Series Festival is ready to showcase global programming, as Netflix has announced that the first episode of season three of Squid Game will be screened there.
According to sources, the festival would take place from June 21 to 28 in Riccione and Rimini, Italy.
Aside from Squid Game, the streamer intends to premiere the first two episodes of Lena Dunham's romcom Too Much at the festival's debut event.
"The Italian Global Series Festival is dedicated to showcasing both Italian and International series content and is a reimagining of the highly successful RomaFictionFest, which ran for 10 years until 2017," the event's organizers noted.
According to THR, the IGSF competition will contain 28 new shows divided into three categories: drama, comedy, and limited series.
The festival's director, Marco Spagnoli, stated that "Projecting series on the big screen offers a very important cultural and social dimension, appealing not only to fans."
"But for all those who enjoy serialization and the possibilities that these stories present. "Our mission at IGSF is to strengthen the Italian industry in the context of European and global collaboration," he stated.
