King Charles seemed to be rubbing shoulders with an impostor when bombshell news about a royal surfaced.
The father of Prince William and Prince Harry is closely related to the German royals, as the monarch's genealogy is nearly half German.
In a declaration published by the Prince of Hohenzollern, Karl Friedrich, the head of the House of Hohenzollern, disclosed that a bogus prince, Dr Donatus, had infiltrated British high society and had gone unobserved for the last two decades.
"It makes me angry and frustrated, and it leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth," the actual Prince of Hohenzollern told The Sun. "Donatus is not my blood, he is not a member of the German royal family, he is simply a non-royal name bearer."
He went on: "He certainly cannot use the moniker of Serene Highness."
Bearn Bilker, a European nobility specialist, stated that Donatus is "indeed the fake prince".
Donatus is said to be involved in a variety of major music groups and charities, including King Charles and the Duke of Kent. He was appointed Chairman of the Friends of the English Chamber Orchestra and Ambassador of The Purcell School for Young Musicians in Bushey, Hertfordshire; King Charles is patron of both institutions.
When Prince Karl learned about the phony prince, he wrote to Donatus to find out the truth. He said, "Yes, I have been adopted by your aunt Katharina."
"I then spoke with my aunt, who told me, 'Yes, he offered me so much money that I couldn't refuse.'" "She was always short on money," Prince Karl told the magazine. "There's nothing we as a family can do."
Donatus was reportedly adopted by Katharina Feodora, Princess of Hohenzollern, about 2003.
