The Royal Family has seen its fair share of setbacks in the previous year, particularly with Prince Andrew and his string of scandals.
The newest issue to shake King Charles was the Chinese espionage affair, which included MI5 as a matter of national security.
Now, as the King focuses on drawing attention back to things concerning his monarchy while undergoing weekly cancer treatments, he is confronted with a new challenge following his estranged son's startling decision.
Despite the Duke of Sussex's attempts for reconciliation, King Charles and Prince Harry are not communicating at the moment. However, as the King began his official tour to Canada, Harry made a surprise appearance in China for his sustainable travel company, Travelyst.
Matt Wilkinson, Royal Editor at The Sun, pointed out that royals, diplomats, and UK politicians avoid China, making Harry's presence seem unusual.
Bronte Coy, royal writer at News.com.au, said the timing was "interesting" since it signaled a distinct divide between the Sussexes and the royals.
"Turning up in China was interesting at this point for Harry as part of the eco-tourism initiative that he pushes," Coy added, pointing out that Harry is the co-founder and spoke in that role in China.
She did, however, point out that the royals do not frequently visit China. Princess Anne visited there a few years ago, and Prince William did so in 2015, during a period when the UK government was encouraging investment in the country.
Wilkinson pointed out that, while Prince Harry has been overseas and is "not representing the UK government," people frequently "misunderstand" this.
"They'll see prince out there in China and think 'oh there's some kind of royal rubber stamping on China'," according to him.
"One thing that jumped out to me was, obviously, Prince Andrew had his spy drama incident lately I would have thought if you sat down with harry you would avoid China."
The royal editor hinted that the royal family might face another setback if something came up, especially since Harry is no longer a working member.
It remains to be seen how this affects the breach between Prince Harry and King Charles.
