This afternoon, King Charles will hold a special private reception at Buckingham Palace for about 400 former Royal Navy service members.
An adviser disclosed that His Majesty intends to 'share a few salty yarns' during the nostalgic gathering.
The occasion brings together former shipmates and partners from nine ships where the King served throughout his naval career: HMS Bronington, Jupiter, Norfolk, Hermione, Minerva, Hermes, Dryad, Fox, and Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth.
Fellow aviators from the 845 Naval Air Squadron and the Fleet Air Arm were also present.
In addition to his old colleagues, representatives from various naval organizations under the King's patronage will be in attendance.
These include members of HMY Britannia, as well as delegates from The White Ensign Association, The Royal Navy Club of 1765 and 1785, The Royal Naval Benevolent Trust, and the Association of Royal Naval Officers.
According to an assistant to The King, 'His Majesty was much looking forward to visiting his old shipmates and no likely exchanging a few salty tales on the voyage down memory sea-lane.'
The assistant wrote, 'He is most thankful for their ongoing loyalty, humor, and support throughout the decades, and looked forward to hearing where life's travels had brought them all.'
The celebration is additionally unique since it coincides with The King's Trust's 50th anniversary.
