Denmark's King Frederik and Queen Mary defied royal precedent by enjoying a private trip abroad with their eldest son, Crown Prince Christian, aged 19.
Traditionally, the Crown Prince acts as regent in the king's absence, fulfilling royal responsibilities when the monarch is away from the nation.
However, with Christian accompanying his parents and siblings on the vacation, the obligation has shifted to a familiar figure.
Billed-Bladet, a Danish news site, originally reported that the royal couple and their four children were planning a special vacation overseas.
King Frederik is set to resume his royal duties on Monday, beginning with daily audiences.
Queen Mary will join him at Amalienborg Palace on Tuesday to welcome leaders from the European Parliament's Conference of Presidents.
On Wednesday, Queen Mary is scheduled to visit the Global Fashion Summit in Copenhagen, where she will continue to advocate for sustainable fashion.
Meanwhile, Princess Isabella celebrates a personal milestone. The young royal, who turned 18 in April, will graduate from Øregård Gymnasium in the following weeks.
The family was last seen together during King Frederik's 57th birthday celebrations, on the Palace balcony.
The King and Queen stood arm in arm, waving to the spectators and sharing passionate looks.
Later, they were joined by Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent, Princess Josephine, and Queen Margrethe, dazzling the crowds below with their combined royal look.
