Prince William expressed 'deep grief' when his brother, Prince Harry, stunned the world and the royal family with his life-changing choice.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have chosen to stand down from their top royal positions in 2020.
Soon after their arrival, the late Queen Elizabeth, then-Prince of Wales Charles, William, and Harry convened for the Sandringham Summit, which determined the Sussexes' future in the royal family.
In a new Channel 5 program called Megxit: Inside The Sandringham Summit, royal experts revealed the future King's likely thoughts about losing Harry.
According to the Mirror, royal analyst Charlotte Griffiths stated, "William must have felt such a sense of relief, but also great sadness because he was really, officially losing his brother."
She went on: "What I heard at the time was that William started grieving for his brother at that point, really grieving, like he'd lost, not only his mother, years ago, but his brother as well and I think he was just genuinely quite sad, and completely broken."
According to reports, the royal siblings spent some time in Sandringham Gardens following the top-secret meeting to clarify any remaining doubts. "Harry expected to be treated by a harangue from his brother," royal biographer Andrew Morton said.
Another royal specialist, Jack Royston, stated that Harry had the opportunity to explain himself to his brother about his departure.
"William did not argue; instead, he listened. I believe it was critical for Harry to feel as if he had an opportunity to say his piece, and for William to leave feeling as if he had not turned it into a major dispute or shut it down," the analyst remarked.
