Shakira discusses her early professional issues with self-confidence, which drove her to rely excessively on cosmetics.
During an exclusive Beauty Then & Now section of her haircare brand, the celebrity did not hesitate to remark on her 'lack' of confidence during the first Latin Grammy Awards in 2000.
She stated, "When I was younger, I believe I spent even more time getting ready. I believe my lack of knowledge and confidence caused me to wear a lot more makeup and be too anxious."
However, she observed that with time, people tend to become more secure in their own skin, a lesson she had firsthand.
The singer said, "And now…I'm a little more confident."
Shakira also spoke about her performances, stating that she wants to seem as natural as possible on stage, avoiding wigs and excessively high shoes.
She said: "When it comes to beauty and when it comes to performing, I need to feel as natural as possible."
