Dave Bautista turned down the part of Batman's adversary Bane in the new DC world, after previously expressing interest in the position.
"I've talked to James about it, but I believe the route he's going in, basically reinventing that whole world, he's starting from new, younger and fresher, and I think you need to do that," the actor told Insider.
"I think you need to start from scratch for the DC Universe to be rejuvenated, and I think you need to start with younger actors," the 54-year-old stated. "You need to start planning for the next 15 years, and I don't think you can do that with me. That is something I understand. I also have to mention that I appreciate it since I don't want to portray a role to which I am unable to do credit.
I don't believe I can bring Bane to justice at this stage in my career. I'm not sure I could take the physical component, and I doubt I'd have the stamina to plot for films. So I'm not sure if I'd be that man."
Previously, in 2021, The Guardians of the Galaxy actor announced his desire to play Batman's bulkier enemy.
""I've made no secret of the fact that I want to play Bane so much that I went to Warner Bros., had an appointment with them, had an appointment with DC, stepped in the door, and said, 'I want to play Bane.'" I'm not joking. 'Wow, and we're not even casting Bane,' they thought. 'I don't care, I'm playing him,' I said."
