Kate Middleton, who is now in the midst of arranging her upcoming Christmas Carol event, is intending to ahead with a big alteration in her festive holiday preparations.
The Princess of Wales has apparently been put off by a centuries-old ritual and plans to stop it totally this year.
Every year, the royal family meets at Sandringham Castle to celebrate this important anniversary. However, this time, on Christmas Eve, Kate intends to put her own twist on things.
The "weird" habit of giving gifts on Christmas Eve is one Kate intends to eliminate in the future. The practice dates back to Queen Victoria, who ruled from 1837 to 1901 and enjoyed distributing gifts.
"Kate has always found the presents on Christmas Eve thing weird," a friend of Prince William and his wife told The Daily Beast. "It is definitely going to be got rid of when they are officially running things."
They went on: "I imagine it will continue this year at Sandringham in some shape or form but everything is going to be much more relaxed and have a middle-class flavour at Anmer Hall."
The friend also stated that William and Kate will be giving "proper presents for each other and the kids there on Christmas Day" rather than on Christmas Eve.
Meanwhile, Kate is sending invitations to the Christmas carol event at Westminster Abbey, which will take place on December 6th.
