Now You See Me star Michael Caine remembered meeting a young Tom Cruise 40 years ago and offering him career advise on their first encounter.
Caine described meeting the future celebrity while speaking with The Sunday Times newspaper. He said that he met Cruise in 1983 at an event for his film Educating Rita.
The two-time Academy Award winner recalled their first meeting, saying, "I turned around and there was this young actor, extremely polite, asking questions about how not to be a flash in the pan. That was Tom, maybe around the time of Risky Business."
He went on to say, "I can't recall what I said, but it clearly didn't injure him! "There was something special about him."
The 91-year-old actor stated that he believes the Mission Impossible star would one day achieve such prominence that people will go to a film simply because he is in it.
"He had a fantastic attitude and sense of composure. What intrigues me is that he is one of the last true stars in film. People will go to a movie simply because he is in it.
Michael Caine is currently preparing to unveil his biography, Don't Look Back, You'll Trip Over, which will be loaded with humor, insights, fascinating anecdotes, and wisdom. The memoir will be released on November 7, 2024.
