Sir Elton John, who composed the score for the musical The Devil Wears Prada, attended the premiere in London's West End.
The 77-year-old singer told the crowd that he couldn't see the performance since he had lost his vision, but he appreciated it anyhow.
In a documentary published in September, the Tiny Dancer hitmaker made another heartbreaking revelation about wanting to see his children marry.
In one scenario, the celebrity discussed his intention to reduce his workload so that he could "dedicate more time to my children." According to Radio Times, "I want to see our children marry, but I don't think I'll be around to witness it."
His companion David became emotional in response to the statement, saying, "That really upset me, because in my mind I sort of think Elton is going to live forever - we all think that - and Elton is so vibrant that it's an easy thing to believe, but it forces you to confront that reality."
The Your Song singer remembered to pay a poignant homage to David during his address in London on Sunday, calling him "my rock."
"To my husband, who has been my rock because I haven't been able to attend many of the previews... it's difficult for me to see it, but I enjoy hearing it, and it sounded fantastic tonight OK. "Thank you for coming."
