Princess Beatrice's newborn baby, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, will have something her royal cousins never had: absolute seclusion.
Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, had Athena on January 22, and royal insiders have informed Us Weekly that she will not be reared in the same public limelight as Prince William and Kate Middleton's children.
Hugo Vickers, a royal historian, indicated that Athena will just be a part of the family. Otherwise, she will have an entirely non-royal upbringing."
Beatrice is not a working royal, despite being ninth in line to the throne. She lives a secluded existence, unlike Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, 9, who already attend official functions.
Athena joins elder siblings Sienna, born in 2021, and Christopher Woolf "Wolfie," Edoardo's former partner. While Beatrice's sister, Princess Eugenie, frequently posts photos of her children on Instagram, Beatrice has been far more discreet.
According to royal researcher Jack Royston, this privacy provides Beatrice's children with something unique in royal circles: choice. "The greatest gift that Princess Beatrice can give her children is to offer them choice and control over the kind of life they want to live, whether private or public," he told me.
For William and Kate's children, it is just not an option.
