Meghan Markle's new lifestyle business may promise Montecito luxury, but its headquarters provide a different tale.
According to the Daily Mail, the Duchess of Sussex's As Ever business is housed in a generic gray office building on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, right next to a decrepit hotel and a conspicuous homeless encampment.
It's a long cry from the brand's motto, "elevating the everyday into the exceptional." The three-story tower, which looks to be adjacent to a Netflix studio lot, appears on the back of Meghan's elegant items, such as herbal teas and wildflower honey.
However, to passers-by, it does not scream royal magnificence.
"It's not at all what you would expect," commented one woman passing by. "Her products sound so fancy, but the building her company is based in is about as basic as it gets."
Another observer commented, "You would think a real-life duchess would base her worldwide offices in a more attractive section of town. It's a drab and decrepit structure. It appears to be a really unhappy place."
Despite the modest address—more than two hours from Meghan's palatial Montecito mansion—the office may just function as a mailing address.
According to the story, the front entrance remains closed, the shelves inside seem empty, and adjacent Netflix employees are unsure what the area is used for.
