Prince Andrew, who finally joined the royal family for Easter Sunday's stroll, has suffered another setback amid persistent controversies.
Last week, the Duke of York was barred from a Windsor Castle gala honoring his former school, which was a blow to his adored.
Sarah Ferguson's ex-husband was not invited to the celebration at Windsor Castle last Thursday, which commemorated Gordonstoun School, which he formerly attended.
Despite residing only a few miles away on the royal estate, William was barred from attending the dinner, which was hosted by his sister Princess Anne, the famed Scottish institution's Warden.
A royal insider informed the Mail that Andrew, who attended the university with his brothers King Charles and Prince Edward, was not present during the special meeting.
"I'm sure the duke would have loved to have attended the dinner if he had been invited," a friend of Andrew's told the newspaper.
"In her role as Warden for Gordonstoun, Her Royal Highness held an intimate evening dinner attended by a small number of guests," a Gordonstoun official stated.
While Princess Anne did not attend the £61,440-per-year school in Elgin, Moray, which only became co-educational in 1972, she has strong ties to the institution.
The rebuff was likely more upsetting because Andrew had a lengthy history with the institution, having followed in his brothers' footsteps as a Gordonstoun student.
The school has taught two generations of British nobility, including artist David Bowie's son Duncan Jones and Sean Connery's son Jason.
The event comes as Gordonstoun, like other private schools, is under fresh financial challenges after the government eliminated the VAT exemption for private schools earlier this month.
