Brad Pitt's F1 director Joseph Kosinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer discussed the huge difference in production that would have occurred if Tom Cruise had been the starring character.
Pitt's racing film depicts a veteran Formula One driver who comes out of retirement to teach a budding young star.
In an interview with GQ magazine, the director and producer, who began planning the Pitt's movie while working on Cruise's Top Gun: Maverick, responded to the question, "What if the upcoming F1 film starred Tom Cruise in the lead role instead of Brad Pitt?"
"Tom always pushes it to the limit, but at the same time is super capable and very skilled," claimed Kosinski.
He praised both A-list performers, saying, "They both have a natural talent for driving." But yes, I could imagine Tom frightening us a little more."
Graham Kelly, the film's action vehicle coordinator, joked, "We'd have had a crash," if Cruise had starred instead of Pitt.
"Tom pushes it to its maximum. I mean literally to the limit. "That scares me," he continued.
Kelly spoke on his experience working with Cruise in the Mission: Impossible films, saying, "It's the most stressful experience for someone like me building cars for him, doing stunts with him."
Comparing Pitt to Cruise, he said, "Brad listens and knows his abilities, and I think he'd be the first to say, 'Yeah, I'm not going to do that.'"
Pitt's F1 is scheduled for release on June 27.
