Hoda Kotb's departure from Today shocked many fans, who had come to rely on the 60-year-old since 2007.
The I've Loved You Since Forever author revealed in September that she would be leaving the show's audience, and she formally left in January.
She returned to the NBC News morning show as a guest on May 28, co-hosting the fourth hour with Jenna Bush Hager.
During an honest talk with Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin, she admitted that her daughter's health difficulties had influenced her decision to leave the program.
The American television journalist said that her 6-year-old daughter Hope has Type 1 diabetes, which has forced her to rethink her priorities in life.
"You just get a priority check in your life," she told me. "I can be here and sweating what's happening to Hope in the morning and in the night, or I can be there and feel relief that I can see (her)."
Guthrie also stated that it was a 'strain' for former Dateline NBC correspondent to continue working on the show since she had watched Kotb staying up so many nights with Hope and then showing up with a bright grin on her face despite not having'slept a wink'.
Kotb also denied rumors that she may replace Kelly Clarkson on her chat program.
The mother of two underlined that if she returns, it will only be to Today.
