King Charles, who was Prince of Wales for 64 years before ascending to the throne, made an unexpected statement regarding his private home.
Following his ascent, Charles passed over his Duchy of Cornwall, as well as the title Duke of Cornwall, to his eldest son, Prince William. Meanwhile, the King seized the Duchy of Lancaster.
However, Cornwall maintains a particular place in Charles' heart since he spent decades modernising and extending it to ensure its long-term viability for future generations.
During a 2021 interview with Simon Armitage on BBC Radio 4, Charles discussed his Welsh estate, Llwynywermod, while still Prince of Wales.
Charles desired to have a base in Wales, but it took him a long time to eventually buy the land. However, he stated that he might have received it sooner.
"I now, at last, have somewhere in Wales to base myself, from time to time," he stated. "About 40 years too late, certainly. But it's been a fantastic chance to finally have somewhere in Wales. I'll come whenever I can. I've always believed that it is a vital aspect of carrying this specific title."
Charles claimed that locating the proper spot was "difficult" and that it took him years to discover it.
"I used to go to different other houses which was very kind of people to lend them for a week or something, but it wasn't the same thing obviously until finally we found this, which has been a Godsend really."
