According to a statement released by Buckingham Palace, King Charles gave a speech on Thursday to commemorate the 80th anniversary of his grandpa, King George VI, addressing the country on VE Day.
"I do hope your celebrations tonight are almost as joyful, although I rather doubt I will have the energy to sing until 2 a.m., let alone lead you all in a giant conga from here back to Buckingham Palace!" the monarch says in a video posted on the official Instagram account on Friday.
The palace continued: "During last night's speech, His Majesty reflected on his mother Queen Elizabeth II's memories of the day."
On Friday, the royal family also posted the king's complete video on our YouTube account.
In a speech marking the completion of four days of commemorations for the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, King Charles stated that the world had a responsibility to commit to pursuing long-term peace and averting conflict.
Following a somber thanksgiving ceremony at Westminster Abbey, Charles and senior royals joined 10,000 visitors, including veterans, for a music concert on Horse Guards Parade at Buckingham Palace as part of ceremonies commemorating Nazi Germany's unconditional surrender on May 8, 1945.
