Samsung Electronics and Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) today announced that the forthcoming Galaxy S25 Edge will use Corning® Gorilla® Glass Ceramic 2,1—a revolutionary glass ceramic solution that provides superior protection in a new, amazingly small device form factor. Samsung and Corning collaborated to guarantee the premium S series experience combines elegance and robustness, motivated by a common mission to push the frontiers of mobile engineering.

Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 has precisely embedded crystals in its glass matrix, which improves the display cover's durability and fracture deflection capabilities. The interaction between the glass and crystal components is designed to promote robustness while maintaining excellent optical transparency. Corning's ion exchange technique, which is a vital component in improving damage resistance, fortifies the glass ceramic material and increases the display cover's retained strength.
