Google Messages for Android now has the option to remove a chat message for everyone in a group RCS conversation.
As we previously noted in February, removing a message will provide two options:
- Delete for everyone
- Delete for me
The second is the default practice, but the first allows you to actually erase something sent to another contact/everyone. However, Google notes that "Messages may still be seen by others on older app versions."
More generally, Universal Profile 2.7 allows users to "edit, recall, and delete messages that they sent earlier for themselves and the message recipient."
According to one user (who also has custom icon capabilities) using the beta edition, this option appears exclusively in one group chat with a size of 12 participants or more. Smaller chats and one-on-one interactions presently lack this feature.
On the devices we examined today, the Delete for Everyone feature in Google Messages does not display. Google is also developing other group chat features like as invite links, QR codes, and @-mentions.
