Some reviewers have labelled Prince William's latest documentary, designed to highlight his huge Homewards initiative, as a 'abject failure.'
The video, which includes rare behind-the-scenes footage, depicts William's commitment to eradicating homelessness, an effort that will be launched in 2023 to honor Princess Diana's legacy.
The video features moving scenes from his boyhood that demonstrate how Diana's commitment for helping the vulnerable has affected William's present activities.
Despite the Prince's attempts to raise awareness, some critics believe that the documentary fails to properly address the underlying factors that contribute to the UK's record-high homelessness rates.
Marianne Levy of i News emphasized the mismatch, stating that in order to really combat homelessness, viewers must understand factors such as social service cuts, demands on the NHS and GPs, and a lack of investment in affordable homes.
"We need to know why it's at an all-time high," she told me.
She also stated that, while the film communicated an optimistic message, it lacked the "anger" required to address the underlying reasons of relocation.
While well-intentioned, the documentary has sparked debate regarding William's struggles as he strives to build his legacy and address complicated societal concerns from his privileged position.
