iOS 18.2 is not slated to be released until the first week of December, but we already know some information about the next update owing to the continuing development and public beta versions. When Apple releases iOS 18.2 next month, users will see a new unified area that lets them to specify default apps for eight or more app categories, including calling, messaging, call filtering, autofill, and applications that may be used with the iPhone's NFC chip.
iOS 18.2 introduces the ability to set default apps for more categories
Currently, the ability to select a default browser or keyboard app is spread over many parts of the settings app, making it difficult for users to find. With the new Default Apps section inside the settings app, Apple has created at least eight new categories for default apps.
Users will also allegedly see two Default App sections that allow them to pick several apps: Contactless App and Passwords & Codes. These might be beneficial if a user wishes to utilize several payment apps or move between different keyboards on their iPhone.
