Parker Finn, the director of Smile 2, has set a requirement for filming another installment in the smash film.
Parker claims that he will only make a new Smile film if he has a truly groundbreaking idea.
While speaking with Collider, Finn stated: "Well, I will say this: I believe there are a lot of interesting paths that any future Smile may go. For me, I enjoy everything that goes bump in the night, as well as the really terrifying aspects of the Smile and Smiler idea."
The 37-year-old American director considers 'investing intimacy into narrative' to be one of his top priorities.
"But truly, for me, 'Smile' is a vehicle to tell very serious and hopefully profound character tales, so I'd want to make sure that, even if more than one person has it, we can still find a way to really infuse intimacy into the storytelling. "That is extremely important to me."
However, Finn, 37, feels that there are still fantastic concepts that might be incorporated into the next sequel.
"But I think there are some really interesting tricks still up the sleeves of Smile."
Smile 2 has proven to be one of Hollywood's top flicks of 2024. The cast includes Naomi Scott, Lukas Cage, Ray Nicholson, and Kyle Gallner.
