Keke Palmer has addressed the negative effects of celebrity in a new cover story.
Speaking to Self magazine, the Nope actress revealed up on the difficulties of success, adding, "It is lonely. I deal with it by not centering myself.
"I think about all the other people who feel weird in the world, because if we take all the glamour out of it, and all the specifics and uniqueness of what it means to be famous, it just means feeling weird," said the magazine's reporter.
Reflecting on the terrifying heights of her celebrity, Keke said, "I think everybody in the world feels extraordinarily alienated, and we feel even more alienated when we alienate others."
"And that's what comes with fame," said the 31-year-old.
Keke clarified, "I'm known around the world and now I'm even less able to connect to the very people that I would want to use my fame to connect to."
"That was probably the hardest part," she said.
Keke commented, “We’re all alone, and we’re looking for a sense of shared aloneness. And I believe that being an entertainer is fundamentally the same thing."
"Everyone experiences some kind of ostracism as a result of their celebrity. It's not necessarily unique; it feels that way to others and ourselves at times, but it's just its own version of the human experience," she explained.
